About this flight
In November 2019, I took JAL’s Hong Kong–Haneda flight twice in one month, both times in Economy Class. This report is about the second of those two flights.
Although my ticket was Economy Class, I had completed a “mileage run” in August 2019—flying four round trips between Japan and Singapore on JAL—and became a JAL Diamond member. This automatically granted me oneworld Emerald status. Because of that, I first used the First Class Lounge of Qantas Airways (a oneworld member from Australia) in Hong Kong.
After that, I visited two of Cathay Pacific’s First Class lounges: first **The Pier**, and then **The Wing**.

Rosé Champagne
This is the rosé champagne I enjoyed at the champagne bar in The Wing.
Marble Long Bar
This is the long table known as the “Marble Long Bar” in The Wing. It has around 15 seats. It is said to be carved out from a single piece of marble. You can really feel Cathay’s dedication to the lounge experience — it is incredibly refined.
Cathay Pacific Airways belongs to the Swire Group, a British–Hong Kong conglomerate involved in shipping, aviation, trading, real estate, and more. Their strong financial background and high business standards may be reflected in the quality of these lounges.
Wine & Cheese Counter
This counter was near the Marble Long Bar. The presentation and interior design are incredibly sophisticated. The way the three kinds of cheese are arranged is stylish as well. A selection of carefully chosen red wines, champagne, and white wines is available.
