About this flight
On March 16, 2020, ANA launched its inaugural flight from Narita to Vladivostok. I flew on this flight in economy class.
This Vladivostok route was the first ever operated by a Japanese airline, and also ANA’s first route to Russia. However, due to the rapid spread of COVID-19 soon after, I believe the service was suspended within a month or two following its launch.
ANA executives were present at the boarding gate, and a send-off ceremony was held. Commemorative gifts for passengers on the inaugural flight were also given out.
Upon arrival in Vladivostok, we received a warm welcome. A ceremony was hosted by the airport management company, with the mayor of Vladivostok in attendance.

On March 16, 2020, just as the COVID-19 outbreak was beginning to spread, major reductions in international flights had not yet taken place, so the inaugural flight to Vladivostok proceeded as originally scheduled.

It’s a truly valuable photo.
Flight Information Board

Looking at the departure flight information board, you can see that many flights were canceled. Out of 35 scheduled flights between 11:00 and 14:50, 17 were canceled.
Amid this situation on March 16, with about half of the flights canceled, the inaugural Vladivostok flight still took off.
