ANA Special Flight During COVID-19
Narita–Honolulu Route
During the COVID-19 pandemic, many international flights were suspended, and ANA’s Airbus A380 service to Honolulu was also halted. However, ANA decided to operate the Airbus A380 as a special temporary service only during the Obon holiday period. Since I had never flown on the ANA Airbus A380 and it was uncertain whether it would fly again during the pandemic, I felt I had to seize this opportunity. This is my flight review of the second Airbus A380 operating temporarily from Narita to Honolulu, for which I used points to upgrade to First Class.
Because this was a special flight and ANA’s first Honolulu service in quite some time, we were warmly welcomed by ANA staff at Narita.
The in-flight meal was a wonderful menu designed with the summer season in mind.
I also enjoyed a glass of champagne known as the “Queen of Champagnes,” served exclusively in ANA First Class, and was even allowed to photograph the bottle.
The sky as seen from Waikiki Beach in Honolulu was a vivid blue unlike anything I had ever seen in Japan.
