About this flight
I arrived in Doha, Qatar at Hamad International Airport from Munich, and then transferred to a connecting flight to Incheon, South Korea. I flew Qatar Airways Business Class, making use of both the airline’s business class lounge and business class flight services.
At Hamad Airport, a brand new business class lounge had just opened in the spring of 2023, and this was my first time experiencing it. The lounge is designed to wrap around the tropical garden inside the terminal, and I felt it embodied a fresh and innovative concept.
The food, drinks, and overall ambiance were all excellent. The service was warm and relaxing, creating a very comfortable environment throughout my stay.

KAWS Monument

Near the entrance of the departure level stands a massive sculpture by American contemporary artist KAWS. It features the character “SMALL LIE” with signature X-ed out eyes.
Heading to the New Lounge (1)

To reduce crowding, Hamad International Airport opened a new lounge in spring 2023: the “Al Mourjan Business Lounge – The Garden.” An airport staff member highly recommended it, so I decided to head there.
Heading to the New Lounge (2)

The new lounge is located in the Concourse C area of the terminal, so I started walking in that direction.
Heading to the New Lounge (3)

As I got closer to the new lounge, called “The Garden,” it felt like I was walking through a botanical garden.

Spa and Gym

There's signage for the spa and gym as well. I love this—being on a plane often means overeating or not moving enough, so having a gym to stretch out and a spa to refresh is fantastic.
Louis Vuitton Lounge

Inside this new business class lounge, there's a dedicated Louis Vuitton Lounge. It's a separate space where guests can enjoy meals and relax—for an additional fee.
Louis Vuitton Lounge Menu

The menu for the Louis Vuitton Lounge was posted at the entrance.
Artistic Bench

This was a wooden bench that’s also a piece of art. The use of wide-open space gives an incredible sense of luxury. In the background, you can see a stylish seating area.
Seating Area

This is the stylish seating area. Compared to conventional lounges that emphasize functionality and scale, this lounge—surrounding a tropical garden—focuses on relaxation and serenity. It’s clearly built on a different concept.

There was a corner in the dining area where chefs were preparing fresh sushi.

Relaxing with a glass of rosé champagne while enjoying the lush tropical garden view surrounding the lounge. Since this lounge has a completely different vibe from the other business class lounge, depending on your layover, you may be able to enjoy the best of both.

Drink & Snack Corner

This corner offered drinks and light snacks. Beverages were available on the table and also in refrigerators underneath, including champagne, beer, and soft drinks. In the back, there were breads and other light bites.
Self-Serve Alcohol

What surprised me was the self-serve alcohol setup. In many Middle Eastern lounges, you usually have to request drinks from staff. But here, you can pour drinks at your own pace—a fresh and thoughtful change for Qatar Airways. It left a strong impression on me, and I’d love to return and enjoy this relaxed lounge experience again.
Ice Coolers

The champagne, white wine, and rosé were kept perfectly chilled in ice coolers. The ice hadn’t melted into water, which made me think the staff regularly replaced it—such a high level of service.
Red Wine

This was the red wine section—not placed in ice, of course.
FENDI Café

On the lower level of the lounge, there was a café operated by the Italian fashion house FENDI. From a distance, it looked like they were serving Italian bread, which made me curious—what kind of food does a FENDI café actually serve?
Boarding Gate

After enjoying the lounge, I made my way to the boarding gate for the flight to Incheon.

Shortly after takeoff, I ordered tempura udon. It’s wonderful to be able to enjoy Japanese cuisine on Qatar Airways.
A piece of shrimp tempura was placed on top of the udon noodles, and the broth included seasoned shiitake mushrooms.
