Boarding Gate

This flight departs from Narita Airport Terminal 1. The yellow tail visible through the window belongs to the Scoot aircraft. Since lounge service wasn’t available, I headed directly to the boarding gate.

Impact of COVID-19

At the time (January 2023), the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic were still present, so there were few international travelers. You can see a Singapore Airlines aircraft parked in the background.

Scoot Aircraft

This is the Scoot aircraft I boarded that day, with its distinctive yellow stripe. It was likely a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner.

Business Class Seat

The business class cabin, called "ScootBiz," uses seats similar in quality and size to premium economy on other airlines.

The configuration is 2-3-2, with leather seats, a seat pitch of 96 cm, and fully adjustable headrests.

Before takeoff, the snack and drink menu was handed out.

Since it was before takeoff, the cockpit door was open.

This is the partition between the front row of business class and the cockpit/galley area.

Wi-Fi Service

A QR code was provided to access in-flight Wi-Fi.

It likely allows access to various programs and internet browsing.

From the seat window, I could see an ANA aircraft parked next to the Scoot plane.

White Jumbo Jet Without Windows (1)

From the window, I spotted a strange Boeing 747 jumbo jet. It was painted entirely white and had no windows. However, it had a U.S. flag and a registration number, so it appears to be in active use.

From the aircraft window, I could see the ANA maintenance hangar.

“NARITA”

While taxiing on the runway, I spotted the word “NARITA” formed by neatly planted trees.

Window Electronic Shade (1)

We’ve taken off.

The Boeing 787 has no traditional window shades. Instead, it features “electronic shades” that allow passengers to adjust the brightness in 5 levels using a button.

I slightly dimmed the window using the electronic shade and took a photo of the clouds. It turns blue like this.

Business Class Meal

Passengers in ScootBiz receive one complimentary in-flight meal. In addition, the following items are included for free:

Since one alcoholic drink is free, I got both red and white wine by using my companion’s allowance as well.

Main Course

The main dish consisted of pork and shiitake mushrooms served over rice. The flavor was a Southeast Asian-style soy sauce with spices.

Beer and Nuts

After the in-flight meal, I started feeling a bit hungry again, so I ordered beer and nuts.

A wet towel was also provided as part of the service.

Tropical Downpour (Squall)

We had almost reached Singapore, but a severe squall had hit the area around the airport. Due to the heavy rain, we couldn’t land. The plane circled several times in the air, waiting for the storm to pass before making its approach.

Clouds Over Singapore

As we neared Singapore and the equator, the clouds looked a bit different from those in Japan. The sky was covered with scattered, disconnected clouds, creating a unique atmosphere.

Preparing for Landing

The heavy rain finally subsided, the clouds thinned, and we began our descent into Changi International Airport.

The Port of Singapore is one of the world’s major container transshipment hubs, so you can see a large number of ships from various countries anchored there.

We landed and began taxiing toward the terminal.

As expected of Singapore's main airport, we saw numerous Singapore Airlines aircraft on the tarmac.

Boarding Bridge

The aircraft reached the terminal gate, and the boarding bridge was moving into position.

The screen next to the aircraft door displayed the Scoot Airlines logo.

Despite the holding pattern above the airport, we finally arrived in Singapore.
